Per , the Premier League will monitor the celebrations of players after scoring goals and could even impose sanctions if they consider them to be insensitive or provocative towards the opposition players and fans. The decision has been taken after several players have been criticised for their post-goal antics in recent weeks.

During Arsenal's 5-1 thumping win over Manchester City at the weekend, young Gunner Myles Lewis-Skelly trolled Erling Haaland by copying his celebration, sitting in a meditation pose, after scoring his maiden Premier League goal. Last month, Iliman Ndiaye received a yellow card after scoring the winner for Everton against Brighton as he celebrated by flapping his arms like a seagull.

Speaking to , Premier League's chief football officer, Tony Scholes said: "There's a balance. I think we all like to see celebrations. Some of the celebrations have been very funny, entertaining, but there's a line. Once it crosses over into mockery or criticism then we would need to deal with it."
