2 of Borderlands 4’s Best Legendaries are Officially Impossible to Obtain

Grinding for Legendary loot is a highlight of Borderlands 4‘s endgame, but it’s not the only way players can earn these coveted items. While Legendaries can drop randomly from just about anywhere in Borderlands 4, there are a few ways players can guarantee Legendary drops, such as purchasing one from Maurice’s Black Market or as a reward for completing the Vend of the Line side quest. However, one method of obtaining Legendaries has its limits, and now players are locked out of obtaining two of the game’s best if they haven’t already earned them.

Borderlands 4 has no shortage of gear, with the game claiming to have billions of unique guns that players can find thanks to the licensed parts system. However, finding the perfect Legendary for a build is no small task, since even the few guaranteed sources of Legendaries may not have the player’s desired combination of licensed parts. Players looking for a surefire hit of Legendary could have gotten two for the price of one via Twitch Drops, but with the promotion no longer available, these guns are now impossible to obtain.

Borderlands 4 Has 2 Legendary Guns That Players Can No Longer Get

  • Midnight Defiance — Legendary Vladof Sniper Rifle
  • Forsaken Chaos — Legendary Tediore Shotgun

Twitch Drops are an increasingly common reward offered by the streaming platform as a way to reward players for engaging with content. While earning in-game rewards from Twitch Drops is as simple as watching streamers play a game like Borderlands 4, the limited-time nature of the promotion is bound to create FOMO when locking pieces of content behind an event that will eventually expire. Such is the case with Borderlands 4‘s Midnight Defiance Legendary Sniper Rifle and Forsaken Chaos Legendary Shotgun.

How to Get Midnight Defiance and Forsaken Chaos

Both of these weapons were available as Twitch Drops for players who watched any Borderlands 4 stream from a partnered creator for at least 2 hours while the promotion was running. The event was live between September 11-30, so players who didn’t participate during this time can no longer get the Midnight Defiance and Forsaken Chaos Legendaries. Despite having a wide window to obtain these items, players who purchase Borderlands 4 after the end date or who did not have access to Twitch during the promotion are denied two of the best Borderlands 4 Legendaries.

In order to be eligible for Twitch Drops, players should link their Twitch account with the account of their platform of choice.

Borderlands 4 Players Who Missed These Twitch Drops Lost Out on 2 of the Game's Best Legendaries

Players who were able to get these Legendaries while the Twitch Drops promotion lasted have access to two weapons around which powerful builds can be created. The unique effect of the Midnight Defiance Sniper is Crowd Sourced, which spawns additional projectiles from nearby enemies on hit. An effect like this synergizes very well with Rafa builds in Borderlands 4 due to his Asymmetric Warfare passive that increases the damage of all indirect projectiles, but this Legendary Sniper Rifle is so good it’s a natural fit for any Borderlands 4 build.

Forsaken Chaos comes with the unique effect Wide Net, which causes the shotgun to fire its projectiles in a wide horizontal pattern that rotates with each shot. As a Tediore weapon, the Forsaken Chaos can also be thrown on reload, causing the gun to continue firing at enemies for a short period of time. While this effect can also synergize with Rafa’s Asymmetric Warfare passive, it’s also quite potent with Amon’s Bolt Action passive, which gives his guns Shock damage for 4 seconds after reloading, giving the thrown Forsaken Chaos another layer of damage to deal to enemies.
